Yesterday we had the pleasure of witnessing arguably the most star-studded golf foursome ever. Dubbed The Match II, we saw Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning take on Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. It was not all sunshine and rainbows (pun intended). The guys had to play the majority of the match in a torrential downpour, which made it all the more impressive. I was very surprised they went through with the round, the weather was that bad. Nonetheless it was still very entertaining, starting with Peyton trying to get in TB12’s head.
The Battle Of The Quarterbacks
As I said in the previous article, the 2nd and 3rd best quarterbacks of all time would be on the links. How did they do? Peyton held his own for the most part, actually winning two holes on the front nine by himself. Tom on the other hand, he is god awful at golf. Slicing off the tee box and chunking his chips, I felt like I was watching myself out there. With that being said, I have to give him credit where it is due. Charles Barkley started to trash talk him a little, saying he would give him some strokes in a head to head. Tom says “it will turn on” and immediately follows that up with hole out from 150 yards for eagle and tells Chuck to “Shut your mouth”, it was pretty incredible.
The Match II Recap
Even with the poor weather conditions, this event was spectacular. We were able to see Tiger and Phil get a little chippy and Peyton and Tom also talk a little trash. It was very up close and personal with a few larger than life athletes. One of the highlights of the day was when Justin Thomas called Charles Barkley a fat ass like it was nothing. Tiger and Peyton (-190) took home the victory. One thing is certain, Tiger Woods looked sharp and would have been ready to go after another green jacket. Regardless this was great and I’m ready for the rubber match.
