Game one of the NBA finals is in the books and we saw the Lakers turn up the heat, pun intended. What was initially a great start for Miami quickly turned into the LakeShow. At one point we saw Los Angeles leading by as many as 32 points in the 3rd quarter, and finish with a final score of 116-98. Anthony Davis was dominant with a stat line of 34 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Critical Injuries Could Hurt Miami Going Forward
Goran Dragic started the game but did not make it out of the locker-room for the second half after suffering an ankle injury. We saw Jimmy Butler also roll his ankle right before halftime, although he was able to return to the game. Mid-way through the 3rd quarter we saw Bam Adebayo collide with Dwight Howard, injuring his left shoulder. Adebayo quickly went back to the locker room and was unable to return. Adebayo is critical to the success of the Miami Heat, if he is unable to play and contribute then it will be a quick series.
What Do I Expect To Happen?
Let me say that I have been on board with this Heat team since before the restart. I placed on a bet on them to win the Eastern Conference back in July, which I happily cashed in on. This team is scrappy, although there was a reason that I did not bet them to win the Finals. I don’t see any way that it happens even at full strength. We saw the Lakers turn up the heat in game one. Los Angeles is too big, they will dominate Miami on the boards all series. This will be a five-game series at the most, and LeBron will get his 4th ring. Also to the dismay of New Orleans fans, Anthony Davis will become an NBA Champion.
