The hype we have all been hearing is true, fight island is real. When the shit was hitting the fan and sports in the US were being canceled, Dana White made the ultimate power move. This man went out and bought an island so the international fighters won’t have to jump through hoops getting back into the country. The location of the island has been revealed, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi will play host. UFC 251 is coming in with a bang.
UFC 251 On Fight Island
UFC 251 will feature three title fights. Yes, you heard that correctly, three title fights. The main event of this card will be the welterweight title match between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns. We just saw Gilbert dismantle Tyrone Woodley, earning himself a title shot. The co-main event will be a rematch between Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway. The 3rd title fight is going to be for the vacant bantamweight title. Petr Yan will take on Jose Aldo. Just those three fights alone makes this card worth every penny, the rest is just lagniappe.
Fight Island Is Real
The island will host events on July 11th, 15th, 18th, and 25th. Dana White has gone above and beyond during this pandemic. He deserves a lot of credit for what he has done. The island includes an arena, hotel, training facilities and restaurants. The man is even tossing a training octagon on the beach. So buckle up folks, because fight island is real.
