Well folks, things are looking grim for us football fans. College football is in danger of being canceled before it even gets started. Two of the power five conferences have expressed real concern over starting this 2020 season due to COVID-19. Take a guess which two, because I’m sure you could figure it out.
Cancellation or Postponement?
That is the major question here, canceled or postponed? Postponed would mean we play football in the spring. I can live with spring football, any play is better than no play. Of course it is the B1G 10 who wants out, the conference with two National Championships in the last 20 years. The players clearly want to play. In a coordinated effort, a very large number of notable players tweeted out the hashtag #WeWantToPlay all right around the same time.
If They Want To Play, Let Them Play!
Anyone who wants to sit out should be allowed to do so and still have their scholarship honored. Although there are clearly more notable players that want to play than not. If this season gets canceled all the way until next year, then what? Are Ja’Maar Chase and Trevor Lawrence expected to wait to go to the NFL? Not a chance. Is Myles Brennan ever going to get a chance to show what he can do? College football is in danger, folks. For now, all we can do is wait, but I think we will get a final ruling on what is going to happen by the end of this week.
